Neodymium Magnet - Coatings
We have a long history of supplying magnetic products manufactured for harsh and extreme environments where reliability is paramount. Applying Conformal Coating protects magnets from damage through ingress of moisture, dust, chemicals and temperature extremes.
Among the four types of hard magnets, ferrite, Alnico and Samarium Cobalt have very good corrosion resistance, it is not necessary to do corrosion-resistant surface treatment. Neodymium magnets contain a large amount of iron which is prone to rust and corrode, so  their surface treatment is required. If the neodymium magnet has no surface coating , it will rust and corrode after a period of use, then gradually Powdering and eventually losing magnetism; At the same time, the outer coating can enhance the wear resistance and shatter resistance of the neodymium magnet , making it have a longer service life;
The most common surface treatment coatings for neodymium magnet are electroplated nickel (three layers of nickel, copper and nickel) and zinc. The various surface treatments are as follows:
⚫ Nickel Copper Nickel
The most common plating. Ni-Cu-Ni is a durable 3 layer (nickel, copper, nickel coating). Great for indoor use. They may be used outdoors if protected from rain and humidity. Good abrasion resistance.
⚫ Zinc
⚫ Black Epoxy
Black Epoxy plating consists of 3 layers Nickel, Copper, and Epoxy exposed as the top layer. Great for outdoor applications. However, black epoxy is not as abrasion-resistant as other platings. In harsh conditions, the epoxy layer may be scratched off to expose the copper layer underneath.

⚫ Zinc+Rubber
Waterproof and excellent corrosion resistance,Stronger friction,stronger shear force , Non-slip.Better corrosion resistance due to full/part covered rubber, widely used outdoors or in other corrosion environments.
⚫ Zinc +ABS Plastic
Waterproof and excellent corrosion resistance, Produced by plastic mold and injection process,Widely used outdoors, underwater, and in chemical acid and alkali environments that the regular neodymium magnet or magnet pot can’t survive.Multiple colors available.

⚫Special Treatment
For many magnetic assemblies which are used in harsh and extreme environments , there is air gap between magnets and their assembly parts, It is necessary to use special glue to seal the gaps or the surface of the magnet to completely isolate magnets from air, water, acid and alkali and other chemical substances and protect them from rust and corrosion.
